Hello, Danilo -
Here is something I have found to be useful.
For something like this I do not squeeze Open Space into something.
But I do give a taste - a snapshot of Open Space with an interactive
moment.
I set up the room just like an Open Space.
- circle of chairs (for 100 depends on the room size - circle or
concentric rings)
- papers and markers in the center
- posters of guidelines and insects and theme on the walls (and I
think of a focusing question / theme that is crafted to be interesting
and important as if it was a day- or two-days-long Open Space for this
particular group - a compelling theme)
- discussion area signs posted around the room
...and so on.
I open, invite them to think about the theme, explain principles and
law and process just as I would do for a true Open Space.
They write topic signs and post them on the wall, just as they would do.
And then I freeze the action and say...
'Looking at the topics on the Agenda Wall - do you see sessions you
would like to go to?'
And they always say yes. Then we do questions or whatever works.
Try to get more of that hour - it's important and you will want to
take time to allow them to think of more and more and more topics and
let them fill that wall...
And if you are able to, you might want to show at the end some Books
of Proceedings that show knowledge-exchange, researcher and university-
based Open Space events. To show them the documentation component.
Cheers from a cloudy-and-also-blue-sky afternoon in California USA,
Lisa

Dear all,
I need a suggestion. I am starting to cooperate with university
center for technology transfer.
I will have possibiliti to present Open space on a meeting which
will last for one hour and I will probably have 30 minutes. There
will be about 100 professors and researcers from all parts of
university. They are kind of not used to collaborate and exchange
knowledge and ideas. Idea is that after this first meeting we
establish kind of open space for colaboration and exchange.
My challange is: how to make tis 30 min? I don't want to have only
theoretical presentation. But also this people are also used to old
form of such meetings. Any suggestion will be welcomed.
Best regards.
Danilo
