Hi Suzanne,

This is such a nice video. Your heart (as always) is in the right place.

Open Space is much, much bigger than Agile and will eventually transform how Agile adoptions (and /all other forms/ of process change) are implemented throughout the world.

Now let's discuss impediments to that...in the Agile world:

 * ...as it stands, the Agile coaching community is in a position to
make this whole thing happen in the Agile space. Agile coaches
influence lots and lots of people. To get the Agile coaching job
however, it's not "what is said", is if often "what is not-said."

 * And what is "not-said" (sidestepped) during the sales call with
executives is that /the people who do the work must actually be
engaged for Agile to actually take root. /

I summarize that dynamic here:

http://newtechusa.net/agile/telling-me-what-i-want-to-hear/
/"...The whole idea that you can bring radical process changes into an organization without considering the people who do the work is an idea promoted by many Agile-enablement firms...."//
/
An astute fellow Philip Ledgerwood explains these issues very, very well... and in much more detail:

http://thecuttingledge.com/?p=1128
/".../ /Successful change initiatives start with everyone, and they are done by listening and building up your people instead of forcing it on them or getting rid of them."/

The approach actually works. Here, OTHER PEOPLE who have actually experienced it, say so emphatically, in short videos:

In Florida at WOSonOS 2013, with students as our co-hosts, our theme was The World is Waiting... Are we Ready?

Behind that theme was the invitation to see that in Education, at Work, and in Community, our mechanistic and hierarchical ways of working are no longer working. We have reached the crisis point with people yearning for so much more.

Hierarchy, predictability and control are embedded in so much that we do. Open Space helps us return to the essence of us to what it is to be human, to connect with others on something bigger than any one of us. Agile (Scrum, Kanban, etc) helps us jump start into new ways of working and doing. Its values are so aligned with Open Space hence the beautiful partnerships that we see evolving. From idea to action, passion and responsibility.

Here with great affection for two individuals who are trailblazing the way, friends of us all, I invite you to be as inspired as I watching what they are doing.
