Peg Holman asked
"So, the question that raised for me is what sustains the "connective
tissue"
in a self-organizing business community?"

I think my answer must be "the same stuff that sustains any human community
- sharing, support, caring". Like in any other human relationship there has
to be time for being together (and dreaming and scheming and playing) as
well as doing together - when sometimes there are bruises in the hurly
burly.

Scott Peck has put it well in "The Different Drum" , and Covey has written
about it too in Seven Habits.... Covey (I think) likened it to a bank
account - the daily wear and tear are withdrawls - we have to take the time
and effort it takes to make some deposits too. And the more emotionally
loaded they are, the more value per unit.

You just have to keep on working on relationships. Continually, regularly
and lovingly.
