Judi -- Are you acquainted with Non-Violent Communication? It has a
practice based on what you describe. It is based on work by Marshall
Rosenberg and there are some websites describing it.

Isn't it interesting, Julie, as you mention blame and judgement,
that we seem to have difficulty speaking from a place of need rather
than judgement?
It is amazing how easily a world view .... or a notion ... or a way
of being ... anchors itself into flesh and then creates the
experience that we call living. I wonder sometimes if we all just
told the truth as it moves up from the body and presses up against
us to be revealed ... if we only said "yes" when "yes" is what we
meant ... and "no" when we are unwilling or unable; if we asked for
what we wanted -- and didn't wait until we were desperate -- and
were honest about what we are willing to give -- would the flow of
energy ever be impeded?

Hmmmm...... I see what you mean, Judi and Harrison. There is that
aspect of conflict that puts us in touch with ourselves. The
internal struggle that accompanies external conflict can force us to
explore our deeper truths and meanings in life. That exploration
can result in important learning and growth.
And then there is that aspect of conflict that blames and judges the
other. It is the healing of this aspect, I think, that I was trying
to get at in my earlier post. This is the healing that allows us to
have a shared truth with another rather than a solo truth that
excludes the other. That shared truth sometimes opens us to the
possibility of recognizing our connection, our oneness.
I love the four laws of Spirit that Birgitt shared.
Thank you, everyone, for such thoughtful conversation.

Hi all,
A very rich exchange, indeed. Intriguing to hear a plethora of

I spend some of my time mediating with people who are in
conflict. It seems
to me that people in conflict are usually not in touch with truth.
My experience has been that people in conflict -- including
myself(!) are quite often beginning to touch their own truth when in
conflict!

Personally I find that when folks are in conflict they are totally
connected to the Truth -- their own. Not necessarily a bad thing if
space can be provided so that some perspective may be achieved. And
the good news about conflict is that somebody cares. No Conflict?
Nobody cares! but you do need some space to move about in. which is
why, I guess, we do what we do.
