I just met with a CEO of a major federal information non-profit who had framed and sponsored two OS events - although not entirely planned that way. The first was with the Executive Team developing its strategy for the next three years. (That was my original contract). The CEO had planned to be the speaker at a Manager's retreat planned for a couple of weeks after. When they experienced the results from OST the Executive and CEO decided to propose a similar OST for the Manager's event, framed by the CEO. It also was also productive and exciting.
The interesting bit is that they have used an International Consulting Firm to do employment surveys and compare to their massive data base. Although the organization as whole was already good - above the mean for both public and private sector organizations - the managers had typically scored the lowest by far. The next survey took place about a month after the events described above and the survey results for the managers were "stunning" -- major jumps in almost all categories, especially in teamwork, common goals and commitment. The International firm guys were amazed - said that the problem now will be sustaining such a major change. The data has not yet been shared with the managers or the rest of the organization. I have asked to have access to write a piece on it, but don't know the response. I thought I would share the story anyway and will add more when I can.
