The interesting bit is that they have used an International Consulting
Firm to do employment surveys and compare to their massive data
base. Although the organization as whole was already good above the mean
for both public and private sector organizations the managers had
typically scored the lowest by far. The next survey took place about a
month after the events described above and the survey results for the
managers were stunning-- major jumps in almost all categories, especially
in teamwork, common goals and commitment. The International firm guys
were amazed said that the problem now will be sustaining such a major change.

The data has not yet been shared with the managers or the rest of the
organization. I have asked to have access to write a piece on it, but
dont know the response. I thought I would share the story anyway and will
add more when I can.

Wonderful -- not that the data came out as it did -- but that somebody
other that us weirdos collected it. I suspect that every person on this
LIST has had a similar experience -- and nobody to the best of my knowledge
has any record of it, particularly an "unbiased" record. If they aren't
forthcoming with the survey results, I have a few friends across the
Potomac River from me in Washington (place called McLean). It is
conceivable that they could help since they obviously aren't doing very
well in other endeavors. As for "sustaining" -- no problem -- just kep[ the
space open.
