colin, you spark for me with this last item about big wall set up in a mall... fran peavey bought an open worldaround ticket and started in japan. she went out to a park bench and set out a sign (this was 1980) that said "american willing to listen" and started having all kinds of conversations with folks. it grew into http://www.crabgrass.org and some excellent resources there on "strategic questioning" that some might use as good fodder for invitation writing. thanks! m
