Friends,

Here's a response from Juanita Brown for all of your wonderful answers to her
questions. I add my thank you as well. It was lovely to learn about what is
working from everyone.

clear and unseasonably warm in Seattle,

Subject: OS Listserv response

Hello to all....

We in the World Cafe team were touched and honored to receive the heartfelt and
thoughtful responses to our question regarding what enabled the OS listserv to
maintain its vibrancy over all these years, and how it had contributed to the
OS community around the world.

After we read the list serv responses we also had a wonderful "storytelling"
conversation with Peggy Holman, which helped us grasp more deeply the origins
and unfolding of your OS learning community. There were so many parallels to
things we have experienced with the World Cafe that, at times, I found my skin
tingling with recognition.

We loved the emphasis on living the Open Space principles, the opportunity for
mutual help across time and space in a rapid way, the poetry and creative
expression aspect (we've just started a "creative expressions" part of the
World Cafe website), the diverse international voices chiming in, the welcoming
of all that arrives, encouraging both the experienced and the "newbies" to
exchange learnings as peers, and the inclusiveness and generosity of spirit
that underlies your collaboration. It is a wonderful tribute to your
self-managing, self-organizing community (and to the living systems thinking
that underlies both OS and the World Cafe) that you are, yourselves, a living
evolving "organism".

I look forward to bringing many of these learnings to bear as this little
girl--(10 years old this month)-- takes her next steps into the big world with
the publication of the first book on the World Cafe in April.

Thank you again for your generous sharing....and we look forward to continuing
to "cross-pollinate" in whatever ways can be most nurturing to the common
spirit that underlies our mutual work. for a better world.

Fond regards,
Juanita Brown
