Esther: I may be too late in responding as I think I saw that you are off to Spain for awhile. But, yes I have worked with "Deliberative Dialogue" in a "union" environment, in fact. I "fixed" it and the design worked for community engagement processes in two hours or less with multiple stakeholders. I've used modified versions 3 times with clients that have used the design more than 50 times. So, when you are back, lets talk.
