I often go for a “what’s possible” question like the one in the picture below from bringing together journalists and librarians. (What’s possible for our communities and democracy when journalists and librarians work together?) I also like questions that have some dynamic tension in them, like: How can we provide energy security and environmental well being for all? This was a friend’s question when seeking to bring together conservatives and progressives a few years back. As Chris Kloth said, questions that are big enough to stretch us yet not so big that we drown in them from confusion. I think that idea came from Harrison. Always, always questions that point towards possibilities. And I find the most effective questions evoke a response on multiple levels - intellectual, emotional, material, and even spiritual.
