Yesterday I received the latest beta and the UK postcode search does work again.
However, the universal search search in very close proximity. It means that you don't find the postcode if you are further away than some 10 miles (or so). However, in such a case you get the "Find more" button and it will find your postcode (depending on distance and number of (down)loaded maps within that distance). So it does work in the latest beta and of course in the nightlies. I don't know when it will be available as stable release in Google Play.
