AFAIK, OsmAnd does not use multiple cores for rendering yet (but the 
rewrite should be under way).

OsmAnd can run on devices with 1GB of RAM, but switching to any other app 
(or even taking a photo note from inside OsmAnd) may push OsmAnd out of 
memory, thus switching back is slow as if you started it from scratch. At 
least that is what I see.

I don't know if there is much difference between 1.5GB and 2GB of RAM. 
Maybe if running OsmAnd alone there isn't much difference. But if you plan 
to run more apps in paralel (e.g. Antivirus, GPS logging, OSM editing/note 
taking), or you want to calculate longer routes (e.g. 1000km) the more 
memory the better of course.
