First, before going further, what is the simplest way to get OsmAnd to play the speech prompts? I have been assuming that touching the "Start" or BlueArrowHead at the bottom left of the screen will cause it to begin at the beginning of the (saved GPX) route and read out the first speech prompt. Right?
Onward. I have read various posts here and elsewhere about Speech. The google TTS app does it's test sentence OK. I have English TTS file in both the internal storage file tree and the SD card file tree where I want to keep as much data as possible; in the OsmAnd dl window it shows that English has been downloaded. The maps are on the SD storage and seem to be working; since there are no maps stored on the internal storage directory, I think that means OsmAnd is looking for it's files on the SD card as expected since I set the storage directory to the SD card.. The language is set to English; the output is set to "Media..." (vs. "Phone..."; but I did try "Phone..." as well). What else is there... I set "TTS" under Navigation in settings. And whatever else I could find; several times The speech works on my phone (Android 7.0). Running out of things to try. Any thoughts?
