Additionally, there are several apps, that can do backup of currently installed apps. For example: ES File Explorer (Play), OpenAPK (Fdroid) and a number of others. These can backup the installed apps on the old phone (without data). You can then copy the whole folder with backups and install these apps on the new phone. You need to allow installation outside of Google Play - this can be allowed, the apps installed and again removed this option. Some Android "flavors" will allow you this without going into settings (asking every time if it is OK to install the app).
