I'm not affiliated with OsmAnd, but AFAIK: Most Android openstreetmap apps rely on the mapsforge project. This open-source project gives all the code needed to display openstreetmaps in Android apps, making for relatively easy development, but with a dependency on the mapsforge project. Apps working this way include Orux, Cruiser, Atlas, Locus, BackCountry Navigator, and Cartograph. The "Elevate" rendering style works for them because they share the same code.
OsmAnd doesn't use the mapsforge code, but has its own equivalent allowing for a tighter integration with the OsmAnd project. So rendering styles from other apps won't work in OsmAnd. It's possible to customise the rendering of OsmAnd maps, but it needs a bit of determination (the basic info is googlable). Hope that helps!
