Yes, I have the same issue and it is extremely annoying. I had the same idea: Am I the only one or is it a bug?
If you don't specify a "from" address/location before it has already calculated a route based on current location - destination, you can forget it. You really need to exit OsmAnd, restart it and be faster than the route calculation (by using history or something like that). If you're not fast enough it will calculate a route from your current location towards the start point, and then to the rest of the route. But now consider it as a genuine bug.
