I did not have anything interrupting it, and my battery was full (well maybe 98-99% or something since i had been using it for 15m). The power saver you mention is it a power saver of osmand or of the phone ? And for me it behaved as you described in the past, the blank screen or lock screen directions is only now since i upgraded (i use the fdroid version and for some reason it did not see updates so i was behind a few versions). In the return trip I used waze without any issues (meaning it stayed on) so i think it is osmand specific. The proximity sensor might be nice but i fear it will be blocked by the thing in which the phone sits on the bike (mine is not water proof so it is inside a bag thingie with transparant plastic on the front, dont know the english word for it)
