Dear Wolfgang,
Thank you for pointing me to that setting.
Unfortunately, that setting seems to affect only the map "while not moving".
If I set "Configure map/Map rendering/Map magnifier" to 25% (I also tried
400%, but it's the opposite of what I want), when I press the "position
centred" button the map gets centred and stays at the chosen zoom level
(25%).
Unfortunately, exactly 5s after I start moving (GPS moving) the map zoom
gets automatically reset to 100% (or watever other super-close zoom level
that does not allow me to see the route as I want).
I believe this is a bug.

As a personal remark, I think it would be nicer if one could decouple the
"auto-zoom" and "position centred" mechanisms, so that one could manually
keep the map zoomed in/out according to preference.
Any other suggestion for solving this issue?

Thanks everybody for your time!
Giordano
