Thank you for the description of handling of maps in sqlitedb-Format and
copying them to the tiles-folder of OSmAnd.
This is the way I have handled my maps up to now.

In some cases I want to use different types/families of maps for the same
area/country, e.g.:
- overview maps
- geological maps
- working-sheets (mix of sat+tracks)
- historic maps
- specail russian maps
- city-plans

So the storing of these map-families all in the one folder "tiles" becomes
quite confusing.
Each map has to be named accordingly and the list of maps is very long.
Storing each map-family in a separate selectable folder would make the
handling much easier.

I hope I have described now a bit clearer what I am after.
Thanks
Werner
