The parameter destname allows you to provide a unique name for your destination instead of the name given by the geocoder, e.g. destname=Richards%20Birthday%20Party. Note that this only has an effect if you also specify dest=.
ok, thanks, that works perfectly now that i understand.

final question for now: is there a way to change the default tile
server from OSM bright? the OSM bright tiles look fine but they
don't render highway=raceway which is something my application
requires, so i'm looking at alternatives.
