Hi all,

The current stable OSS version (v4.0) is more than year old. While the
recent v4.0 builds have many of the v4.1 features it's necessary to move
to the v4.1-stable in the near future. The current v4.0 source tree has
different source structure and driver naming than than current v4.1
which makes maintaining both trees very difficult.

I would like to release v4.1-stable around September. This means that we
need to move to a feature freeze mode within few weeks and to start
extensive testing.

There are few features/fixes I would like to implement before v4.1-stable:

- Fix USB audio recording under Linux (for the time being it works only
under Solaris).
- Fix MIDI support if there is any demand for this (otherwise this part
will be left to v4.2).
- Implement a script/program that "injects" OSS kernel level code to the
stock Linux source tree.
- Fix the Cuckoo module that makes the OSS drivers available to ALSA.
For the time being Cuckoo doesn't work.

Best regards,

Hannu
