Exactly. I confirmed that already (see below) .

Thank you. That's exactly what I am missing. And I've looked at the
debian packages of course and have tried to find specific patches, but
nothing there. I am running phonon from kde trunk at the moment.

I am trying the other end ( #kde ) now. I don't expect much support
from there though.
