In oss irc channel, user 'NetHawk' complained: FATAL: Error inserting oss_hdaudio (/lib/modules/2.6.31-gentoo-r6/kernel/oss/oss_hdaudio.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg) dmesg: oss_hdaudio: Unknown symbol hdaudio_asus_m9_mixer_init I built latest hg and got the same error. I commented out the lines referring to the m9, lines 1042 and 1060 in /kernel/drv/oss_hdaudio/hdaudio_codecids.h Rebuilt and hdaudio module now loads correctly. Please re-examine these lines.
