Of course. But if you're installing this onto a larger number of system, you should be using something like puppet, chef, whatever to help manage configurations anyways. This would just be one more file to add (and it's the same file on all systems). ;)
Utopia, I know. The initial configuration can be a pain, but might be worth it in the long run if you're running into issues.
