Last time I had to use a Ubuntu, it was calling canonical every 30 minutes. I cannot call a system that does that secure; just my opinion.

Now, when it comes to CentOS 7, it has some pretty major changes. For instance: NetworkManager is the default, systemd is the default. I haven't had much opportunity to really dig into 7 yet, but I've heard that they finally got SELinux policies closer to sane. When it comes to installing/upgrading OSSEC, it's a breeze, really; no matter the OS. It is currently installed on Centos, ver 5.1. I looked in the documentation to see what versions of Centos are supported but didn't see any. Here are my questions: 1. Should (and can) I upgrade the Centos to the most recent version? 2. From what I have read, Ubuntu is better for security type installs. Can I build a new server using Ubuntu and have the agents report to it? I am guessing I would have to copy some file(s) that contain the agents that are known.
