As part of a spring break trip we took the kids to the creationist
museum near Cincinnati Ohio. <http://www.creationmuseum.org/>

Those folks are, for real, young earth believers.

I had the kids on a strict, no snickering, leash. [1]

The production values are amazing, they must have a ton of cash to
toss at this.

I knew that they believe that dinosaurs were contemporary with humans.
What I didn't know is that they believe that before "the
corruption" (that whole nasty business with the apple)
that all life was vegetarian. Kind of like a vegan wet dream. They go
to great length to try and explain that either the meat eating genes
were latent, (God's backup plan) or that he simple changed them after
the fall.

They have a 1/4 scale section of the ark's hold.

What they really skip over is that if the dinosaurs were contemporary,
as my daughter put it, "what did the dinosaurs do to piss off God?" He
put two of everything on the ark but decided not to renew his option
on Dino's. Darn shame.

I have a few photos from the inside, I'll post if anyone is
interested. The first animatronic you see is a little girl feeding a
carrot to a small Deinonychus and the smile on her face makes her look
absolutely demonic. It really set the tone for the rest of the exhibit

=c=

[1] The trip was really for the newport aquarium, and the (real)
natural history museum, art museums etc.
The natural history museum is in the old train station and is a
gorgeous example of art deco architecture. (41 million 1920 dollars,
most expensive train station ever built)

(none of these do justice to it)
