I'm not at all surprised that you agree, Chuck.

My point was that the Republicans have taken a position, let's  give  
money to very wealthy business failures with no strings, with which  
*no*  reasonable person will  agree.

Of course I have long considered the repubs to be the party of wealth  
and privilege. They try to cover it up with some rather cheesy  
theatre, Joe the Plumber, Bush as a cowboy in Crawford, and appear  as  
the party of entrepreneurs, but this financial crisis has forced them  
to reveal their true colors.

I think the repubs may get away with the subterfuge again after awhile  
though because they have a couple of very powerful things going  for  
them.

1) The MSM loves the 'Party of Horatio Alger' narrative which is much  
more compelling than the 'American Tories' narrative even if the  
latter is much closer to the truth.
2) Many of the dems are themselves members or servants of the  
privileged class.
