Hi Payal, I think that you're facing a known issue with the gdal package where tiff symbols conflict with the system library.
This issue is documented in the OTB FAQ (section 31.4): http://www.orfeo-toolbox.org/SoftwareGuide/FAQ.html This issue is fixed in the gdal package on more and more distribution: - in osgeo4w on Windows - on Macports - on Debian testing and Ubuntu 14.04. For other Ubuntu there is a functional gdal package in the ubuntugis-uunstable repository - don't have a complete list but most of other linux distrib must integrate a functional gdal package in a repo If for some reasons you can't find a functional gdal package you can still compile you're own gdal following the instruction in the FAQ.
