Remi that's the correct definition for the GCS, though it says spheroid it's a ellipsoid. You have the radius and the flattening parameter (f = 1/298.257223563).
You have different GSD in the two images that may be causing the difference in origin. ¿Can you please check the shape of your pixels? If i recall correctly when you reproject MODIS using other tools than the ones i mentioned before you get parallelogram-shaped pixels not squares.
