If you succeed in this method let us know. One thing, I want to mention was OTBQt4 module is deactivated in standalone binaries. I don't know if qgis needs it in OTB!. If it doesn't depend on this module, you are good to go ahead. qgis-otb users would be much interested to have this workflow!!. With that they can use nightly otb with nightly qgis. are you sure about your Ubuntu version. 5.10!! ?
