My idea was just applying a linear stretching using a moving window, but it would be nice having other local enhancements. Is not there a more user-oriented guide of image enhancements under ITK? The convert application does not look local. BTW, the CLAHE in ImageJ is very good http://fiji.sc/Enhance_Local_Contrast_%28CLAHE%29
