Just today I explain what "occupations" were to a lady
I was evaluating after she told me that she "wasn't
going to work" and therefore didn't think that she
needed my help. (I work in LTC). I explained to her
what "occupations" were and hence, why I am called an
occupational therapist. This was a 80 year old lady
who was mildly confused, but understood what I had to
offer after only 2-3 minutes of education. If this
woman could understand in such a short time, you would
think that those who are not confused at all and those
who are actually quite educated (i.e., doctors and the
like) would be able to understand what we do if we
just took the time to explain it to them.
