Goodafternoon group,
This was just posted by the office of inspector General. It seems they have
determined that no medicare beneficiaries were denied services by the $1500 cap
limitations. I specifically was working in a SNF at the time the caps were activated.
I personally witnessed patients whom had to decide if they wanted to learn to walk or
swallow. Many patinets and families requested early discharge from rehab. secondary
to fear of using all of thier funds too early ( a likely scenario), and not having
anything left for late in the year problems. I appeal to all OTs and COTAs in the USA
to please write your congressman. Write the President. What ever it takes! We saw
what the caps did to the rehab. business last time. Lets not let it happen again.
