The NJ licensure law does not require an MD referral. However,
insurance is generally predicated on MD referrals. Consequently,
various institutions make the MD referral a requirement. Estelle

Can anyone refer me to an appropriate agency to determine guidelines for
needing dr's. orders to provide OT therapy. I am in NJ. As an outreach
service provider, there seems to be a difference of opinion among the
OTs as
to which settings an OT can provide services without a dr's. order.
(ex:
school, day workshops, etc. )
I don't want anyone putting their licence in jeopardy, and I can't seem
to
get a definitive answer ( in writing) from anywhere.
Any direction would be greatly appreciated.
Sue
