Subject: AOTA Needs your help

=================Original message text===============
Dear Friends & Colleagues:

I am writing to ask for your assistance. This year at the AOTA Annual
Conference, we are hosting an auction. The proceeds will be going to the
rebirth of the national awareness campaign to promote awareness of
occupational therapy. We need items for the auction. The more items we have
in the auction, the more money we can raise for awareness. I am asking you to
join the auction committee by agreeing to help gather items.

We are looking for all kinds of things limited only by your imagination.
Things that have worked well in the past include:

* crafts by AOTA members and students (quilts, baskets, jewelry, etc.).
* Art by members, friends and family members (photographs, painting, etc.)
* baskets of goodies representing your city, or state, or occupational
therapy program/university or college or hospital or clinic (which may
included tee shirts, mugs etc.)
*jewelery you no longer or never used
* old costume jewelry from prominent occupational therapy leaders of the past
and present (i.e. Susie Famous OT's signature pin)
* old occupational therapy memorabilia (an original edition of Willard and
Spackman, or a copy of Betty Blake, Occupational Therapist)
* Christmas and Chanukah presents you never used
* That item you bought on ebay (or the gift) that was the wrong size or color
(i.e. the palm pilot that you know you will never use)
* Other collectibles you want to part with
* Items you may wish to purchase to donate to the auction
* Items from vendors of Occupational Therapy products
* Airline tickets (if you have connections)
* Baskets of spa items (scented candles, lotions, etc.)
* Sports memorabilia (i.e. that signed baseball)
* Items from businesses owned by people you know.
* Free nights in hotels in your community (maybe with tickets to a show
and/or gift certificates to restaurants or entry into a tourist location to
go with it. So many communities want to attract tourists again)
*From local Floridians...restaurant gift certificates, free hotel stays, free
Disney tickets, free admissions to tourist destinations, etc., etc.
If you are willing to serve this cause or donate items, please let Maureen
Peterson know at [EMAIL PROTECTED] so we can send you additional
information. If you have things to donate please mail them to me directly at
9040 SW 64th Court (and spell out Court) Miami, FL 33156. Be sure to include
your name, address, phone number and value of the item with your donation.

Thank you all for supporting your membership organization. Remember, you are
AOTA.

Barbara L. Kornblau
Your AOTA President
