Something I like doing is looking at other profession's references to OT. This morning I was looking at "Advance for PT's" message boards (www.advanceforpt.com/asp/newforum1.asp?ForumID=101and) and came across the following two messages. I thought I might pass them on to our list. Interestingly, I just had a discussion with my Human Occupation class about this very topic.
Thanks, Ron ------------------------- message 1 ----------------------------------- What is really the limit between PT/OT treatments to the UE's? I have encountered lots of times feeling uncomfortable treating an UE problem because the OT whom I worked with, repeatedly implied that it is "their area". What I know is: ROM and increasing strength and function of hand is PT's concern. Fine dexterity, practising on knitting (pt's previous job), and activities (like holding a spoon for eating) are OT's concern. So, whenever there's a PT/OT referral, I no longer touch the UE just to avoid friction. Please tell me I'm ignorant. ------------------------------- reply --------------------------------- You are not only ignorant, but pathetic. Please do not attempt to train students. With knowledge and confidence like yours, physical therapy would have no future. ******************** Unsubscribe?
