Ah yes, that's what I'm looking for. I'll look it up on Barnes and Nobel
and Amazon. I know each family is unique in a culture but, I want to at
least come at it with some knowledge. Thanks so much.

Beth,

I would recommend you purchase an excellent resource book. We have
this as a mandatory competency for all of our clinical staff.

"Culture and Nursing Care: A Pocket Guide" Edited by Juliene G.
Lipson, Suzanne L. Dibble, and Pamela A. Minarik. Published by UCSF
Nursing Press University of California, San Francisco 1996. This book
provides a quick reference to 24 different ethnic groups and includes
summaries in Cultural/Ethnic Identity, Communication, Language,
Literacy, Self Care Practices, Food Practices, Disease Management, Birth
and Death Rituals, Family Relationships, Spiritual and Religious
Orientation, Illness belief, and Health Practices. We end up purchasing
a new copy every year because ours gets so beat up.

This book doesn't directly address individuals from Iraq but does
address Farsi and Persion culture which may provide some insight.

Good Luck
