Have you tried to administer the ACLS to your legally blind clients? Several of mine have worked by touch and the scores were validated by family agreement with the profile of the mode as well as clinical observations. It depends of course on whether the individual has lived and functioned as a blind person. If the blindness is recent the requisite touch skills will not be present. My people were high fours. I would guess you need goal oriented behaviour to work by touch. Hope there are other responses to this post. Joan

At the present time, we are told to administer the ACLS on every client at time of eval and verify with the ADM placemat. When we are faced with an individual who is legally blind and connot perform the ACLS we are asked to estimate an ACL mode based on our initial eval. I have educated our Rehab director on numerous occassions that you can not determine an ACL mode through observation alone especially during the initial eval. I personally write on my eval something to the point of "Unable to administer the ACL secondary to.....will continue to assess through treatment". Well this worked for awhile, however he is starting to get on me again about putting a mode. So please if anyone is familiar with an adapted version of the Allen for those who are legally blind I would forever be greatful! I have been online and did not see anything in particular, but I plan on asking them. Thanks in advance for any help T _________________________________________________________________ Join the world's largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com *********RC*********** Unsubscribe?
