Please may I clarify what you mean as a gait belt? Is it a padded strap
buckled around the person's waist, and either used as a handle, or with
integral loops to be used as handles?

If not this (I know it as a handling belt) then what, please?
If it is this, I have problems where the belt is buckled too loosely and
the person ends up being dragged along by pressure in the axillae - or
the person/people helping actually take the full weight when the person
walking lifts both feet off the ground. I agree that it can be a most
useful aid for both handler and patient though.
