Shellie, what sort of tests are you looking for? What area are you interested in? Veronica

Do you know how to score the clock drawing test or is it purely based on clinician observation? I am trying to get together some tests before I start work. By the way, I am a clinical manager/care coordinator at a home health agency, so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I might even be able to help on rare occasion. In the cases I will be picking up, the home health nurse will be completing it. So, I will have the evaulation, soap note, discharge and travel log to complete. I am glad I will not be doing the OASIS right away from what I hear. I will start out with one patient 3x week and move up as I feel comfortable. Unfortunally, the full time OTR they have on staff is leaving so I won't be able to shadow as orginally planned. As for tx, where would be a good place to brush up? Are there standardized tests that I should know? I am hoping to start soon. I am already hired, they just have to do the formalities...check my references, drug UA, orientation and I have to get my CPR license. Thank you for your input Shellie ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jimmie Arceneaux" To: Sent: Tuesday, March 15, 2005 9:25 AM Subject: RE: [OTlist] Re-entering the OT field Hi Shellie, I'm sure you will do fine. One of the more difficult things about home care is documenting on the OASIS. Your agency may be able to provide you with a copy of the OASIS in Detail A clinician's Pocket Guide by Briggs. It can be most helpful with explaining some of the more intricate aspects of the OASIS. Of course, as an OT, you will only need it for recertification and discharge OASIS visits as we currently cannot complete admit or post hospital OASIS. As for treatment issues, you may want to brush up on environmental adaptations/modifications, low vision, total knee/total hip/ORIF hip, balance/safety and adaptive equipment. I have been out of the field for almost 8 years and am going to be re-entering soon (hopefully this month). I have alot of anxiety over this. Things have changed. I don't quite feel sure of myself. Anyway, I am going to be working in the home health field. Any suggestions as to what I can read up on? I have already taken an online continuing education course on documentation. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Shellie -- Unsubscribe? [EMAIL PROTECTED] Change options? www.otnow.com/mailman/options/otlist_otnow.com Archive? www.mail-archive.com/[email protected] Help?
