Hi Heather!

My advice would be to pick an area or topic that interests you and then
review the literature available in AJOT or similar journals to see
what's out there. Find a researcher from some of the articles to
contact and see if they are willing to work with you. It will be a much
more interesting project if you pick an area that interests you -
especially since it will be taking up a lot of your time!

Good luck!

Mary

Subject: [OTlist] Research Ideas - PLEASE HELP

Hello all. I am an MSOT student and I must complete an 120 hour
researcher practicum. Here are the specifications: Work with an
instructor-approved researcher to establish learning outcomes related to
conducting and disseminating scholarly work of the profession, with an
emphasis on outcomes research, including examining, developing,
refining, and evaluating the profession's body of knowledge, theoretical
base, and philosophical foundations. The learning outcomes can include
process, product(s), or a combination of process and products. I am
having difficulty coming up with a place to start. For instance, should
I pick a topic that needs to be researched in OT or should I try to
contact an OT researcher? If so, what topic would I pick and how would
I go about finding a researcher? Or, how would I find some good topics
to pick?
ANY help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance. Heather
