The U.S. House of Representatives passed a $50 billion budget reconciliation package November 18 by a narrow margin of 217-215. The House bill included no provisions addressing the therapy caps or any other Medicare legislation. However, the passage of the bill sets the stage for a conference to reconcile the differences between the House-passed version and the version the Senate passed on November 3. The Senate bill did include a 1-year moratorium on the implementation of the therapy caps. As soon as the House and Senate leadership names the conferees, AOTA staff will publish them in the AOTA Legislative Action Center. All occupational therapy practitioners are strongly encouraged to contact the conferees even if they are not your representatives. In the interim, it is critical to contact your members of Congress and encourage them to support the inclusion of the Senate language on therapy caps in a final budget reconciliation bill. ================================================================== -- Unsubscribe?
