Thanks Joe! Sorry for "jumping the gun".

One thing that really "shocked" me about the 'sisters' comment is that
in her mind, OT can REALLY make THE difference. I've always felt this
about OT and have struggled so many times to understand why we allow
ourselves to be pigeonholed in to just ADL people or UE PT's.

I've got a really awkward situation where I've been doing some PRN.
The facility primarily has OT just doing UE and LE dressing/bathing
and UE pys-dys. At this facility, the OT's don't address transfer or
mobility goals!! And I don't understand this! I don't understand why
we limit ourselves by excluding mobility, especially as it relates to
occupational performance.

When I see patient's they don't want to do daily living tasks sitting
down. They want to be as mobile and as independent (including
independent of wheelchairs, walkers and adaptive equipment). Granted
some people NEED their adaptive equipment and mobility aids but should
OT be the one's addressing these issues?? I mean, if a patient is in
the bed and wants to get their underwear from the dresser, there's
really only a couple alternatives to getting them. You either walk or
roll over, or someone brings them to you!

I don't know. It's late (for me) and I'm on a rant about something
unrelated to your message.

Ron
