I live in Alberta. As Aine says each province has jurisdiction over health
care. However the situation she describes is quite similar here. 

As an OT the big difference that I see is our independence of practice. Most
of us are on salary with an assigned case load. 

Some years ago there was a very good study published in the Canadian Journal
of Occupational Therapy that looked at the pros and cons of practice either
side of the border. I remember commenting on it on this list. It must be on
otdbase
