I can only speak from my own personal experience, but I have gotten the flu
vaccine since I was 16 years old, (Which has been quite a long time, lol)
and have never had any reaction at all. I recieved my annual flu shot in
September and the H1N1 vaccine about 3 weeks ago. The H1N1 vaccine is no
different to me than any other flu shot I have recieved. We have to be
realistic here and try not to succumb to the hysteria that the media trying
to elicit to sell more papers...Don't get me wrong, H1N1 is bad, I do
believe it is dangerous. I just have a difficult time believing it is SO
much worse than the other flu strains we see taking hundreds upon hundreds
of lives year after year. I have also heard the vaccine horror stories, but
I don't know, I'm a believer in vaccines, I always have been and always will
be I suppose. However, I would like to stress that as with any other
communicable disease, I think the best protection we can offer our childres
is
teaching them to protect themselves through handwashing etc...

I saw that story about that girl:it was the strangest medical story I have
heard about in a long time. When she runs or walks backwards, she talks and
moves normally normally. If she tries to walk, she is practically crippled
and cannot speak.

My wife and I have been debating about it. We normally do not do any flu
shots but it's scary. I think if you got the flu, you have build the
antibodies and have some immunity. I read somewhere that if you get sick you
have the antibodies for about 20 yrs. If you get the shot it only last for
about 2 yrs. The other thing about the shot is that they are made with
metals (the adjunctives), and I don't think that can be good for you. If the
shot was a one time deal, it would be better. Did you guys hear about the
football cheerleader who after receiving the flu shot, she developed
irreversible shaky movements. I it a difficult decision. The
government thinks we should. We were almost forced to get the shot, if you
wanted to continue to work. Long enough, good night. Juan

HI,
I am home with a newborn (he's 2 months old now), and I also have a 2 year
old. I'm due to return to work (as a school OT) in January, but am
seriously considering trying to extend my leave so that I don't have to send
my kids to daycare (I'm especially worried about a 4 month old being exposed
to swine flu). My 2 year old just had the flu, and I was so worried it made
me realize that I would feel better having him get the swine flu vaccine
than have him catch the actual virus. He just received the typical seasonal
flu vaccine this week, and my husband and I will get it too. We also plan
to get the swine flu vaccine, so that none of us risk the chance of getting
swine flu and passing it on to my newborn. It's a difficult decision to
make because you hear that it is only as bad as the seasonal flu, but but
now we have a state of emergency declared...and in the end I will feel safer
having us all vaccinated (except my newborn of course)...

I already got the seasonal flu shot, as did my
husband. We both get it every year. As a severe
asthmatic, I plan to also get the H1N1 vaccine as soon as it is available.
