dear outlook connectors,

basically means implementing a MAPI server.
right. and this will tie in to ldap/nntp/imap on the backend. also support jabber (with msn plugin) etc.
i've since discovered a few things:
1) the MSRPC Nspi interface's data structures are
identical to those in mapidefs.h (according to
/usr/include/wine/windows/mapidefs.h)
interesting. i am not exactly sure what this means. would you please elaborate luke? is this the stuff you me and jason nocks have been discussing off list? if so I will write up a summary and post it on the list as well as my blog.
2) the otlkcon0/mstore/*.cpp code looks like a more "full" and
"complete" version of what i'm rather foolishly trying
to implement as hard-coded data structures in my
network-reverse-engineering efforts.
yes the otlkcon team has been hard at work for about a year on this effort. they have made quite a bit of progress and there has been cvs activity over the past few days. this is very exciting news!!
therefore, i would envisage a situation where porting and tweaking
otklon's mstore code to a linux FreeDCE service behind an Nspi
and EMSMDB interface would result in well... a free software
exchange 5.5 server where you didn't have to plug in DLLs on
the client or the exchange server.
cool!!!!! super fantastic!!! you mention freeDce a few times in this post. for anyone not familiar with it, please see
http://freedce.sourceforge.net http://sourceforge.net/projects/freedce
how about it?
anyone interested?

sounds like a great project. it would do wonders.... just think:
it is possible to migrate from nt4 domain(s) to samba+ldap very easily.
the process is very well documented/tested/understood. for more
on that see http://us2.samba.org/samba/docs/man/Samba-HOWTO-Collection/NT4Migration.html
the amount of businesses on nt4 and exchange 5.5 is staggering. with microsoft having dropped
support for these products as of december 31st 2004, many companies are in immediate need
of a viable alternative right now! lets give it to em.
luke. what can we do as a community to make exchange 5.5 replacment happen? i for one am
ready to deliver major amounts of time/energy/resources to the task.
