i've since discovered a few things:

1) the MSRPC Nspi interface's data structures are
identical to those in mapidefs.h (according to
/usr/include/wine/windows/mapidefs.h)

interesting. i am not exactly sure what this means. would you
please elaborate luke?

the MAPI data structures SPropXXXXX etc, as outlined in mapidefs.h,
appear to be derived from an unpublished microsoft MSRPC interface
called "Nspi", aka EMSABP.

interesting. i did a search of msdn.microsoft.com for nspi and turned up some hits. don't know
how useful these are. also searching for nspi proxy on google had some tidbits. again not sure
of there usefullness.

is this the stuff you me and jason nocks
have been discussing off list?

yes.

ahhhh okies.

2) the otlkcon0/mstore/*.cpp code looks like a more "full" and
"complete" version of what i'm rather foolishly trying
to implement as hard-coded data structures in my
network-reverse-engineering efforts.

yes the otlkcon team has been hard at work for about a year on
this effort.

good grief.

yes. it has been an interesting year luke. :)

<snip>

luke. what can we do as a community to make exchange 5.5 replacment happen?

- set up nt4 + exchange 5.5 on one machine/vmware session,
- outlook client on another.
- install samba tng from cvs and freedce from cvs.
- ask me for the source code i'm working on
(must set up cvs repository)

I will do all this on my laptop by Saturday Feburary 5th. You will have VPN access. I sent you an email
off list with some other info.

- play!

I must admit I am new to this stuff. So I don't know how much playing I will be able to do :) I imagine
I will learn stuff quick.

the similarities between emsabp_server.c and otlkcon's mstore are
very striking.
