Or you can do it a different way if you are able use procmail. I have a
procmail filter to reject new messages that have multiple recipients in
the To: field or have been CC'd to others (who obviously wouldn't have
the ticket number if they were to reply). I use formail to generate the
auto-reply, concatenate its output with a canned message, and then feed
the lot to sendmail.
