I installed the RPM package for otrs. Otrs installed the database for me.
I use apache 2, latest mysql 4? and have perl installed. Otrs recives mail
and works like it should except for the mail-back button. I think.. Btw. I
also had to change the parameter CHECK_DB or what it was in the
/etc/sysconfig/otrs for "service otrs start" to work, because otrs could not
manage to find out if mysql was running. Don't know it this has something to
do with it?

How have you installed OTRS? Normaly you should have some 
templates for responses that are already stored in the database. If you 
have created the database manualy, the initial data are taken from the 
initialinsert.* scripts.

Have you taken the webinstaller to setup your database? Somehow it looks 
like your system is not installed completely.

Can you tell me more about your system? What version of mysql, apache 
and perl are you using? Are you using mod_perl2?
