Sorry I haven't followed this whole discussion but did you check the Defaults.pm file? It is located in Kernel/Config/Defaults.pm
I'm pretty sure you have tried configuring it in Config.pm and in the Sysconfig menu. If not message me back. I'm not a Fedora user myself, I use Gentoo, so not sure how you get/configure the FQDN on Fedora.
